What is a DNS lookup?

DNS (Domain Name System) translates human-readable domain names like "example.com" into the IP addresses computers use to find each other. A DNS lookup shows you what records are currently published for a domain — useful for checking if a website change has propagated, verifying email (MX) setup, or troubleshooting why a domain isn't resolving.

A/AAAA records point to IPv4/IPv6 addresses. MX records control email delivery. TXT records hold verification and policy text (like SPF/DKIM). NS records show which nameservers manage the domain. CNAME records alias one domain to another.
